Tallahassee police arrested a 15-year-old boy Sunday in connection with the Oct. 24 mass shooting outside Bragg Memorial Stadium after Florida A&M University's homecoming game, and State Attorney Jack Campbell said he will be charged as an adult, the Tallahassee Democrat reported. Boston Uncut does not name minors, so the boy is not named here. The charges are allegations.

Police Spokeswoman Alicia Hill said the boy was arrested on 11 counts of attempted homicide and one count of possession of a firearm by a delinquent, the Democrat reported. WTXL reported the counts as attempted second-degree murder. At a juvenile hearing Monday, Leon Circuit Judge Andrew Sheeran ordered him held in secure detention, which the judge said was required by statute given the charges. Prosecutors asked for, and the judge ordered, no direct or indirect contact with victims or witnesses and a ban on social media and unsupervised internet access, with his calls monitored. A woman identified by court personnel as his mother said over Zoom, "This is a lie," before she was muted, the Democrat reported. His arraignment had been set for Nov. 16, but Campbell expects it to change as the case moves to adult court, WTXL reported.

The judge also granted a Police Department motion to seal the probable cause affidavit, which would describe the evidence behind the arrest. Campbell, speaking in favor over Zoom, called the case "a continuing criminal investigation." The sealing means the public account of what happened comes from police statements rather than the affidavit.

Gunfire broke out shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday at Perry and Manatee streets, an area usually filled with food trucks and vendors during FAMU home games, Police Chief Lawrence Revell said. At least 12 people were injured, 11 of them by gunfire and one while fleeing. Six of the victims were children, the youngest 11, and a grandmother of one of the people shot was hurt while running. As of Sunday, five victims had been released from the hospital and six remained hospitalized, one in critical condition, and police said no deaths were reported. The shooting came about an hour after the Rattlers lost 31-28 to Arkansas-Pine Bluff before a crowd of 20,549.

Revell said Monday that "a physical altercation occurred before shots were fired" and that "none of the victims appear to have been the intended targets." Detectives believe the shooting grew out of a dispute among people who knew one another. Early Sunday he had said detectives believed there was only one shooter; police now say additional arrests are possible. "This arrest represents progress, but we will not stop working until we fully establish what happened, identify everyone involved and bring the people to justice," he said. Revell said he was proud of officers who "rushed toward danger to render aid" and carried victims in their arms. The department asked for video and tips, reporting a "significant influx" of information.

The Democrat reported that the arrested boy has faced criminal charges in the past, and the newspaper said it names minors charged with violent offenses. Boston Uncut has not seen court records and relies on the Democrat and WTXL for the account of the hearing.

The shooting is among the worst in Tallahassee's recent history, the Democrat reported, citing a 2022 shooting near Florida State's campus that killed one person and wounded eight, and an April 2025 shooting at FSU's student union that killed two and wounded six. FAMU said the campus "remains safe" the night of the shooting and urged people to avoid the area while police investigated.

The Democrat also reported that days before homecoming, FAMU extended its postgame tailgating hours from an 8 p.m. cutoff set by the university police to 10 p.m. after pushback, in a decision involving university administration. The shooting occurred about an hour after the game ended, before either cutoff, and reporting does not link the hours to what happened.
