Savannah Chrisley's Reported Fiancé and Her Parents Appear on the Same Justice Department Clemency List

TMZ and Us Weekly identified the man as Jason Galanis. Federal records show President Trump commuted his two securities-fraud sentences on March 28, 2025, two months before pardoning Todd and Julie Chrisley. The commutation did not erase his convictions.

Savannah Chrisley, the reality television personality and podcaster, is engaged to Jason Galanis, a former business associate of Hunter Biden whose federal prison sentences were commuted by President Donald Trump, TMZ reported Tuesday, citing sources with direct knowledge. TMZ said Us Weekly was first to report the identification. Chrisley had announced her pregnancy and engagement, identifying her fiancé only as "J," and later said on her "Unlocked" podcast that his first name is Jason, according to TMZ.

The Justice Department's public list of clemency grants by President Trump shows how the two families' cases intersect. On March 28, 2025, the list records three commutations, one of them for Jason Galanis of the Southern District of New York. The entry shows two separate sentences. The first, imposed Feb. 15, 2017, was 135 months in prison and $37,032,337.43 in restitution for conspiracy to commit securities fraud, securities fraud and investment adviser fraud. The second, imposed Aug. 11, 2017, was 173 months, with 60 months consecutive, and $47,785,176 in restitution, for conspiracy to commit securities fraud, securities fraud and conspiracy to commit investment adviser fraud.

Two months later, on May 28, 2025, the same list records pardons for Todd and Julie Chrisley, Savannah Chrisley's parents, who had been sentenced in the Northern District of Georgia in November 2022 to 144 months and 84 months, respectively, on bank fraud and tax charges.

The second Galanis case involved bonds issued by the Wakpamni Lake Community Corporation, a tribal economic development entity of the Oglala Sioux Nation, according to Tribal Business News. Prosecutors said the defendants diverted more than $38 million from the bond proceeds and that Galanis used more than $8.5 million personally, the outlet reported, citing court records. The commutation reduced his sentence to time served "with no further fines, restitution, probation, or other conditions," according to the Executive Grant of Clemency quoted by Tribal Business News. It did not erase his convictions; a commutation shortens a sentence, while a pardon forgives the offense.

Devon Archer, Galanis' co-defendant in the tribal bond case and also a former Hunter Biden associate, received a full pardon on March 25, 2025, the Justice Department list shows. Both men testified during the House Republican impeachment inquiry into former President Joe Biden, Tribal Business News reported, citing Politico; Hunter Biden said under oath that he met Galanis only briefly years earlier and was never implicated in the fraud.

According to TMZ, Savannah Chrisley said Galanis contacted her in June 2025 to congratulate her on her advocacy for her parents' pardons, and the two began dating the following month. TMZ reported that her father approved of the relationship despite reservations about their age difference. Neither Chrisley nor Galanis has publicly addressed the clemency records in connection with the engagement.

What remains unknown: whether Galanis' restitution obligations to the tribal entity and other victims were fully extinguished by the commutation, and whether he will make any public statement about the case.
