MIT Investment Arm Sues Beantown Taqueria as Mass. Ave. Restaurant Prepares to Close
The restaurant at 245 Massachusetts Ave. will close at the end of October. A jury trial is scheduled for Nov. 5 in Cambridge District Court.

Beantown Taqueria will close its storefront at 245 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge at the end of October, and the MIT Investment Management Company is suing the restaurant for failing to vacate by a June 30 deadline, The Tech reported, citing public records.
MITIMCo claims the restaurant, which rents on a month-to-month basis, owes $7,452.88 in unpaid rent and related charges. The tenant has requested a jury trial, scheduled for Nov. 5 at Cambridge District Court. Neither side responded to The Tech's requests for comment.
MIT plans renovations at the building, including a loading dock, ramps and an elevator, to make the property compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Cambridge Pizza, which shared the building, closed in June after 31 years. Beantown's general manager told The Tech the business has not secured a new location.
