Britney Spears Says She 'Will Find a New Family,' Alleging Jamie Lynn Wouldn't Let Her Hold Her Niece and Kevin Federline Wouldn't Let Her Use the Bathroom
A source close to Jamie Lynn disputed the account to Page Six. Reps for Federline and Jamie Lynn didn't respond. The post comes four years after the end of the singer's 13-year conservatorship.

Britney Spears posted on Instagram on Sunday, Nov. 1, that she 'will find a new family,' making allegations against her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, according to Page Six, Us Weekly, Just Jared and HuffPost. Rolling Stone described the post as appearing Monday, Nov. 2.
The claims are Britney Spears' own allegations, made on social media. They have not been tested anywhere else, and one has already been disputed.

What she wrote

The post ran alongside an image of a young Dakota Fanning raising her middle finger in the 2003 film Uptown Girls, Rolling Stone reported. In it, Spears, 44, wrote: 'Jamie Lynn never let me hold Ivy one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trips and Kevin wouldn't let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house !!!'
'They made me feel like a slave and have all their secret things they did behind my back and all I ever did was work for my dad,' she wrote. 'I will find a new family !!!'
Page Six noted that Spears misspelled the name of her niece, Jamie Lynn's 8-year-old daughter, Ivey. HuffPost reported that the bathroom allegation refers to Federline's home in Hawaii, where Spears' sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, reportedly moved with their father in 2023. Page Six gave the sons' ages as 21 and 20.
HuffPost noted it was unclear what 'secret things' Spears was accusing her sister and ex-husband of doing.

The other side

Page Six said it contacted representatives for both Federline and Jamie Lynn Spears and did not hear back. HuffPost said representatives for Spears, her sister and Federline did not immediately respond.
A source close to Jamie Lynn later disputed the account about Ivey, Page Six reported, as cited by Just Jared. '[Britney] held Ivey, and Ivey loves her,' the source said, adding that Jamie Lynn and her husband 'aren't really concerned about the post.'

The Federline money story

It isn't clear what prompted the post, Page Six wrote, but it came days after the outlet reported that Federline, 48, allegedly owes at least $117,704 to City National Bank across a credit card, a line of credit and an overdraft line, according to documents Page Six obtained.
Page Six reported that Federline signed the agreement with the bank in late November 2024, around the time Spears made her final child support payment to him. Spears, who was married to Federline from 2004 to 2007, previously paid him $40,000 a month while he raised their sons in Hawaii. After Sean Preston turned 18 in 2023, the payments dropped to $20,000 and continued until Jayden James graduated from high school, according to Page Six.
HuffPost reported that Federline lives with his wife, Victoria Prince, and their two daughters, Jordan and Peyton.

A long public rift

This isn't the first time Spears has gone after relatives in public. In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, she harshly criticized Jamie Lynn and accused her of not doing enough to help during the conservatorship, Us Weekly reported.
Jamie Lynn has responded before. After Britney's court statements about her family in 2021, Jamie Lynn wrote on Instagram, as quoted by Us Weekly: 'Maybe I didn't support her the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you I've supported my sister long before there was a hashtag. And I'll support her long after.'
As recently as September 2025, an insider told Us Weekly the sisters were 'doing better' and FaceTimed every few weeks. Sunday's post suggests that's no longer the case.

Where her career stands

Spears was under a conservatorship for 13 years, which ended in November 2021, Rolling Stone noted. In February, it was revealed she had sold the rights to her full music catalog to Primary Wave for an undisclosed price. She was later charged with DUI and ordered to 12 months of summary probation, including a three-month DUI class, weekly meetings with her psychologist and twice-monthly visits with her psychiatrist, according to Rolling Stone.
In October she released 'She'll Never Be Me,' a song she wrote with Justin Timberlake that was originally slated for her album Britney, Rolling Stone reported. Her most recent album, Glory, came out in 2016.
