BC Runs Over Georgia Tech for 399 Yards, and Charlie Comella Picks Off Two in a 49-27 Road Win
Bo MacCormack III ran for 155 yards and three touchdowns, Mason McKenzie added two more on the ground, and the Eagles' defense scored on a 47-yard pick-six. Boston College is 4-3 and has won two straight ACC games.

Boston College went to Atlanta and just leaned on Georgia Tech until the Yellow Jackets broke. The Eagles won 49-27 at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday, their first road win of the season and second straight in the ACC, and they did it by running for 399 yards and five rushing touchdowns, according to BC Athletics. The Heights says that's the most rushing yards BC has put up in a game since 2019.
It did not start that way. Georgia Tech took the opening drive 79 yards in eight plays and scored on a four-yard pass to tight end Kevin Roche Jr. Then they kicked a field goal. 10-0 after one quarter, on the road, and I'll be honest, it looked like a long afternoon.
Then Bo MacCormack III took over. He finished with 155 yards and three touchdowns on just 20 carries, his first multi-touchdown game as an Eagle. His seven-yarder in the second quarter gave BC a 12-10 lead it never gave back. His two-yard score after a 40-yard Mason McKenzie run to open the third made it 18-13.
McKenzie was efficient through the air, 9 of 17 for 101 yards and a touchdown, a 25-yard strike to Nedrick Boldin Jr. for Boldin's first career touchdown catch. But the quarterback did more damage with his legs, scoring on runs of six and 15 yards. That's four rushing touchdowns on the season for him, per BC.
And then there's Charlie Comella. Two interceptions. The first one, returned 23 yards, set up McKenzie's six-yard touchdown for a 25-13 lead. The second one he took 47 yards the other way himself for a 42-20 lead, right after BC had just scored. That's a 14-point swing in about a minute of game time. That's a ballgame.
The run defense deserves its own paragraph. Georgia Tech managed 101 rushing yards. Anthony Palano led BC with nine tackles, eight solo, and a sack. London Upton had six stops, and KP Price and Caleb Davis had five each. Comella added five solo tackles to go with the picks.
Georgia Tech, now 2-5 and 1-3 in the ACC, got a 15-yard rushing touchdown from Justice Haynes and a 30-yard touchdown pass from Grady Adamson to Dalen Penson. It wasn't enough.
BC is 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the league. Next up is a trip to Duke on Saturday, Oct. 31, at noon.
My opinion, clearly labeled as such: this is what BC football should look like every week. Run it, run it again, and let the defense take the ball away. A team that can put up 399 on the ground isn't a team that needs its quarterback to win shootouts. If they bring that identity to Durham, the Eagles are a real threat to get bowl eligible early.
